If Heather was disappointed by P2 because she didn't think it would scare anyone, she'd probably be very disappointed by the unscary "new" ending of P3.

Yes, that's a point. Evewn though there's a frozen Carol Anne, it seems the film ends well.

Yes. Though she's frozen, she's fine in the end. To bad it didn't end well after the film for Heather. Aww. I still wanna see the original ending.

I agree.
If not a full SE DVD, then they could at least upload the footage to this site (to her fans) or Youtube.

Yes, that's what a director is. David told me he wrote PIII during a WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike as a member. If one writes material during a strike, the WGA bans that person from writing anymore material or scripts. David says (and I agree) that that is the reason Gary says the original ending "was never shot", even though, based on all the evidence David gathered, it clearly was shot. If Gary Sherman ever admits this, he would be banned from movie writing.
It is highly unlikely he will do so, so that's why I say that I doubt a PIII SE DVD containing the original ending will be released while Gary is still around.

Just to clarify and correct something Celia said: Gary Sherman and Brian Taggert did not write the script for P3 while the strike was going on; I've only said that it's possible that Gary "revised" pages for the re-shoot after the strike began.
I'm not sure what the WGA rules are regarding their members who may write scripts for studios while a strike is going on; and it's unclear who actually worked on the script pages for the re-shoot (it may have been someone else entirely, but most likely it was Gary Sherman, who changed things at the behest of the studio executives). My theory is that most of the re-shoot pages were written before the beginning of the March 7th strike, so anything that was "Revised March 14, 1988" may have in reality been pretty minor. It's unknown how much control he would have over the release of any cut footage on a SE DVD. I would think that since he wasn't a big name director, the studio would have final say. Hopefully, anyway. The fact that the original ending was filmed shouldn't have any relation to the WGA strike; the original ending was written and filmed months before the strike began. But, when you look at what Gary told the E! True Hollywood story, it seems like he was trying to claim that the "b.s. ending" (as he terms it) that he had to film without Heather was shot "in one day" shortly after Heather's funeral, in the month of February (way before the strike began). However, that is simply not true, judging from:
1. The script pages for the re-shoot on file at the Margaret Herrick Library in Beverly Hills have "Revised March 14, 1988" stamped on each page;
and
2. The calendar showing the schedule for when the re-shoot was filmed, which was provided to me by SFX make up man Doug Drexler. The calender was from March, 1988, with the re-shoot actually being filmed not "in one day," but rather over a period of at least 5 days (March 14th-18th, 1988). The last shot filmed, the scene of Kane's head "melting" on the floor of the bedroom, was filmed on the last day, Friday March 18th.
Here is what I forsee:
IF MGM decides to release a SE DVD, they will probably go to Sherman and see if he wants to be involved with it. If he says yes, he'll likely do so on the condition that any deleted scenes and the original ending not be included, or he won't participate. At that point, it will be up to the studio to decide whether to follow his wishes or go ahead with the SE without his involvement. Hopefully they could include the original ending, even if he objects. That would be fine with me; they can always get someone else to do a commentary track (me? haha).
Then again, the footage might have been thrown away years ago, so it could be a moot point.
