I was shocked. It's hard to explain. Even though I didn't know her as a person but when I heard the news I couldn't breathe and felt like I just lost my best friend. :(

Poltergeist was always my favorite horror movie as a kid and I always rented part 2 and 3 at the video store cause she's such a great actress. Then one day I was talking about her to my mother and she told me.

I know though she'll always be remembered though. :) So every time I watch the movie now, I think of her and how she touched us all.

Her story made me cry. I never cry, but i just couldnt stop myself... I remember when i saw Poltergeist for the first time (it was about 10 years ago), i thought what a beautiful girl and i didnt know that she was gone... Only this year i incidentally found an article with her story. I found out about her passing only 19 years after it...

Well couple years ago I saw vh1's 100 Greatest Kids Stars and I remember them talking about her. Later I went to my mom and asked did you know that the Poltergeist Girl Died. She said yes. Everytime I hear Carol Anne's Theme(end of song of poltergeist) I get sad and start crying. I don't care if People call me a freak a Pedo or obsessed. I don't Care I LOVE HEATHER and I always will. ^_^

That was so strange... I never knew her, never met her in my life, i was only 2 years old when she died, but i reacted like she was my best friend. I cant really explain that feeling... Even now when i look at her picture i am feeling depresed. I would like to visit the place where she was buried, but i live in Lithuania and it is very far :|

I first found out in a comment of the YouTube video of the 1985 version of Alice in Wonderland (in which Heather was supposed to play the titular character but dropped out because CBS wanted to pay her less than they promised her) the comment states in a rough approximation that "Heather O'Rourke, who dropped out of the role, died in 1988 at the age of 12". I actually thought they were lying and somehow I forgot about it. It was not until I stumbled onto the Wikipedia page for one of the Poltergeist films (I think it was Poltergeist 3), and I saw that Heather had died. When I read about it, I believe my heart skipped a beat when I read that.

It's hard to imagine that its been almost 23 years since Heather passed away. If she were still alive, she'd be turning 35 in a few weeks.

I never saw the news report of her death coz she died a year before I was born. I only found out about it when I was about 11 or 12 when I read about it on the interent and I was really shocked that she had died at such a young age. If she had lived, she would have been 14 years older than myself.

I was 6 when my mom told me in 1989. I completely misunderstood it. It didn't make sense to me at all at the time. I just remember thinking, "Huh? She was just a little girl, like me. How could she be dead already?"

I was really sad when she died, but she's in a much better place than we are now. She's in Heaven where she can't feel anymore pain or have anymore fears, only beauty, rest and happiness. Unfortunately, it's hard for the people left behind.
