Does this make me a poor Heather O'Rourke fan?

Hope this isn't too inappropriate for the forum of this site but I wish to know what fellow Heather O'Rourke fans honestly think of this.

I'm a teenager in high school, going into senior year, and for the past few years I've been trying to write my own dark fantasy/horror novel. The two main characters of my story are a 16 year old boy and a girl who's his 11 year old cousin.

My story deals with angels, demons, heaven, h*ll, god and other supernatural themes. I had decided early on in my writing that I wanted one of the main protagonists to be a girl, young and innocent, a symbol of purity, flung into terrible situations and struggling to survive. I sought a tad bit of inspirations from Alice in Lewis Carrol's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" which, as you all know, has a young girl as its main heroine.

I was also inspired by the character of "Newt" in the sci/fi action film by James Cameron, "Aliens". In my story, the two cousins are supposed to form a close, almost sibling relationship, with the boy acting as the protector and guardian of his younger cousin.

I looked into other films dealing with the supernatural as a sort of 'research' for my story. I was aware to a degree of a film by Stephen Speilberg called "Poltergeist" (I think the only time I had ever heard about it was when it was briefly mentioned on the sitcom "Fullhouse".) What really drew my attention to it was when I discovered that H.R.Giger, the artists who had designed the monsters in Aliens, has also done the design for The Beast in the original Poltergeist.

So I decided to include Poltergeist in my list of DVD's to pick up from a Blockbluster. I also decided to pick up the DVD containing both Poltergeist II: The Other Side and Poltergeist III for the heck of it. I watched the entire trilogy that night.

I enjoyed the first one and (as silly as they are) the two sequals as well. The character of Carol Anne captivated me (as I would later discover has thousands of others). Doing some research on the net, I learned about the Poltergeist curse and the tragic death of the actress who has played Carol Anne, Heather O'Rourke.

Truthfully, this news really did depress me. I couldn't get Heather out of my head. She'd been gone for nearly 20 years by the time I had discovered who she was and what had happened to her. I almost get a haunting feeling when I remember watching the Poltergeist films and how I was completely oblivious to this girls fate.

I did all the research I could on Heather, learning about her life, her acting career and who she was as a person. I don't know how to describe it, but she had some sort of strange charm about her.

Anyway... the next thing I knew... My main character was an outgoing, sweet young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes.

So the truth is Heather O'Rourke serves as a basis to one of the main characters of my story. I'm terribly, dreadfully sorry if this was wrong for me to do. I truthfully do love and respect Heather for all she did and who she was and I would hate for this to offend any other Heather O'Rourke fans or appear as disrespectful to her memory. But honestly Heather did serve as a big inspiration for my writing.

What do you think about all this? For the record I didn't do all this research about Heather because of my story, I honestly did care and want to know who she was... The writing part came later. I sort of imagine it as if my book were a movie and my character was another role she could have played. If any of you feel that this idea I had was in poor taste, I will scrap it without question.

Heather O'Rourke height and weight

Hello everyone.

I'm offthechangejoe and I'm happy to announce that I've recently joined this site! I'm a fan of Heather O'Rourke and her work (obviously) and I hope to discuss, chat and get to know a lot of you others users here!

My questions rather random, but I'm trying to learn everything there is to know about Heather.

So, does anybody have a clue as to what her height and weight was prior to her illness? I read on IMDB that she was about 4'8'' although I'm not sure what age she was and that she weighed less than 50 pounds at the time of her death.

What would you say (or estimate) her height and weight was prior to her getting sick, I suppose around age 10 or 11?

What Do You Wish Heather Could've Lived To See?

For me, the one thing I wish Heather could've been around to see after her death was the creation of the insipidly sucessful, still-popular comedy/cartoon series, The Simpsons. I believe that shows she was in such as 'Happy Days' set a beautiful ground base for the type of dry, (occasionally crude) and sarcastic humour that the simpons made so popular today. Not only that, but I also find that Lisa's character from The Simpsons bares a striking resemblance to what Heather was like. (i.e.: they're both blonde, both talented, both unbelievably intelligent/mature for their age, both cute, etc). What's really regretful for me is the fact that Heather died in early '88, just about a year before the simpons would air, just BARELY missing the beginnings of the show However, as truly tragic as her death was and still is, I'm very surprised and impressed by how revelvant she still is to this day to so many, and how missed such a beautiful, angelic and talented person she is to the world over.

--p.s. looking forward to hearing what you guys n gals would've liked to see Heather experience had her life not been cut so tragically short. This is my first post/topic started on this site, so thanks for reading!

Does anyone know any information on this photo. She's around 5 or 6 here she looks so 'adorable'!!! funny but it does look like a 'child pageant' shot but she only competed in 'one' pageant when she was 3 years old and won it (: If Heather continued with child pageants I bet you she would have been the cutest kid and would have won many more... just like JonBenet Ramsey (: ...

But she only competed in one child pageant, so I think it was a modeling shot which she did lots of child modeling. Any information on this would be great!! very little info on this photo.

My First Barbie commercial

Hello, all. I actually "collect" Barbie commercials from the 80's and it seems that a Barbie commercial was produced for basically every Barbie made and every Barbie accessory they made. Sooo.... does Celia know if there was a My First Barbie commercial, and if Heather was in it? In Barbie magazine, doesn't it say that Heather got her start in Barbie commercials? She was on the box and in the ad, so maybe they used her as the "face" of My First Barbie and put her in a commercial? Maybe Heather's family would remember.
