Help Topic: How to change your signature
I've recently been asked some questions about how to change your signature and/or how to add it to your posts, here is a tutorial on how it's done.
First you will need to find a picture you would like to use as a signature, then upload it to a free picture hosting site.
Here are a few sites that offers free picture hosting:
http://www.photobucket.com
http://www.tinypic.com
http://imageshack.us
These sites will allow you to store your pictures as well as use them as signatures.
During or after uploading these sites will usually show you several links you can use to display your picture, such as: direct link, html coded link, or in an IMG link. (These options are diffrent from site to site, I personally use photobucket, since it's very easy to use and after uploading a picture you have many options of how you would like to share you picture, for this tutorial you will want to use the IMG code.) You can also use the direct link and put it into the "insert image" icon, but if you just copy the IMG code from the picture hosting website, you can ignore using the "insert image" option.
Step 1. First you need to go to "My Settings" as shown in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled-4.png
Step 2. Then you have to press "Profile" as shown in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled2.png
Step 3. Then you must press "Change Signature" as shown in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled3.png
Step 4. Then a text box editor will open up, if you are using the "IMG code" simply paste the code in and skip step 5. After you have added the IMG code, it will look like this, just with your own link inserted. Picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled5.png
If you are using the "direct link" code go to step 5.
Step 5.
In the text box editor you opened in step 4 you must press the little icon that says "Insert Picture" as shown in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled5.png Now a little text box will appear, here you can insert your direct link from the website you used to host your picture, direct links always start with "http".
Step 6. After you have inserted the IMG code(s) you can scroll down and click "save" as shown in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled7.png
Step 7. When you're done, your picture should show as your signature like in this example: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/mortens/Untitled8.png
NOTE: The new forum makes you unable to use big pictures as a signature, I think it will either auto scale them down to a suitable size or deny you completely, so try to make sure the pictures are not too big for the website to accept. ![]()
I hope you understand this tutorial. If I have made any mistakes, or you have any further questions, please let me know.
